Minimally Invasive Treatment of Varicose Vein
Varicose vein is not only a cosmetic problem but also an important disease of lower limb circulation. It may progress slowly for several years and then worsens in a short period of time. Stasis dermatitis and venous ulcer are the frequent complications.
In our clinics, we stress the importance of primary and secondary prevention of this disease.
PRINCIPLE OF TREATMENT
-
Diagnosis: find out the source of varicose veins according to history, physical examination and duplex ultrasound findings.
-
Classification: define the clinic severity using VCSS score; define the CEAP classification according the clinical class, etiology, anatomic location, and pathophysiology.
-
Treatment plan: discuss with the patient about the treatment choices and their pros and cons. Minimally-invasive treatment may include EVLA, superglue (Venaseal or Variclose), UGS, Microsclerotherapy, cutaneous laser, compression therapy.
-
Recovery: All the treatment methods can be done under local anesthesia without fasting. The patient is encouraged to walk immediately after treatment. The patient can usually go back to work on the same day or next day.
