CHANGE YOUR LIFE STYLE 
Do not stand or sit for a long time. Bending up and down your feet while standing or sitting help the calf blood flow back to your heart. If you have to sit or standing for more than 1 hour, walk around or elevate your legs to relieve calf swelling. For a person with occupational requirement to stand for a long time daily, wearing a pair of suitable medical compression stocking is stongly suggested.

CAN MASSAGE IMPROVE VARICOSE VEINS ?

Massage helps to reduce muscle tension and alleviate muscle soreness. However, there is no scientific evidence to support that massage can improve varicose veins.

A HOT-WATER SOAK OR HOT SPRING CAN NOT REDUCE YOUR VARICOSE VEINS
A hot-water soak or hot spring can not reduce your varicose veins. On the contrary, they usually worsen varicose veins and hence should be avoided.
A WOMAN FREQUENTLY DEVELOP VARICOSE VEINS AFTER GIVING BIRTH TO A CHILD. IS THERE ANY PREVENTIVE METHOD ?
A woman tends to develop varicose veins after pregnancy because of the increased female hormones, venous compression from the enlarged uterus, and increased body weight. A pregnant woman is suggested to wear a pair of graduated compression stocking during her daily activily. Lying down on the left side during sleep will reduce compression of the inferior vena cava and hence improve leg blood flow.
ARE THERE EXERCISES THAT CAN REDUCE THE OCCURENCE OF VARICOSE VEINS ?
Swimming ! The buoyance from the water can reduce the load of your legs. Continuous calf muscle contraction and relaxation increase the blood flow and reduce the venous pressure of your legs. Other excercises that can reduce varicose veins include cycling, moutain-climbing, or moderate running. Heavy weight-lifting or very strenous running can hasten the formation of varicose veins or exacerbate the existing ones.
